WHAT MAKES SUMMER AT FRONTIER GAMES DIFFERENT

At New York Society of Play, we use games to learn how to be part of a community and foster healthy friendships. Thanks to our social contract, our favorite games teach us about safety, trust, consent, and more!

Every day, students will learn and grow in our game room! With activities like board games, Dungeons & Dragons, and more! We will get to play a mix of old favorites and new challenges.

Outside at the park, students become heroes at Fantasy Frontier! This one-of-a-kind program takes the best parts of sword fighting, improv theater, orienteering, and collecting to create a collaborative, massively multiplayer summer experience like no other.

My son loves the interaction, the game play, the story lines… This has been a great supplement during the school year and a replacement during the summer. It helps him to exercise his imagination and creativity.
Danielle L

Suited my son’s interests down to the ground. Such lovely people, so easy and pleasant to deal with. He has loved it so much, and I only wish he was with them for longer. I will definitely be re-enrolling him next year.
Laura D

My son looves NYSOP Fantasy Frontier. I love that he is active and gets outside and has fun. It is one of the few things that he loves to do off-screen. The staff are wonderful — so calm yet on top of it.

FAQs

What's an average day like?
Mornings are spent outdoors playing Fantasy Frontier, our original kid-friendly LARP. Kids go on quests in nearby parks that involve teamwork, problem-solving, foam sword battles, and collecting loot. Afternoons are indoors at Frontier Games, where kids continue their adventures through imaginative play, D&D, trading card games, and more.
What games do you play?

Board Games

  • Play classics such as Settlers of Catan and Carcassonne, and explore new titles like Coup and 7 Wonders. Each week, players will learn a new game, and develop skills including negotiation, strategic thinking, and sportsmanship.

Dungeons & Dragons

  • In this tabletop roleplaying game, players take on the role of adventurers in a fantasy world, completing quests and defeating monsters. D&D helps players develop confidence, mathematical literacy, public speaking skills, and more.

Fantasy Frontier

  • Our one-of-a-kind game combines the storytelling aspect of role-playing games with the physical engagement of sports. As a result, your child’s local park becomes a fantasy world filled with adventures, peril, and treasure!

And more!

Does my child need any experience with D&D or roleplaying games?
Nope! Our Game Masters are great at bringing new adventurers up to speed, and experienced players naturally help newcomers learn the ropes too.
What's the difference between each week?
Each week is a standalone adventure with its own storyline. Kids can sign up for one week or all ten. Returning adventurers will find new challenges each week while continuing to build friendships and skills.
Is there aftercare / extended day?
Yes! Extended day runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
What's the cancellation policy?
Full refund if you cancel one month or more in advance. If you cancel less than one month before your session, you’ll receive an NYSoP credit for 50% of the program cost.
Where exactly is the program?
